Hair removal by laser and IPL
Translated from.. Using intense pulsed light (IPL) to remove excess hair is becoming more popular than laser hair removal because it is noninvasive, can be used with more different kinds of hair and skin, is safe and easy to do. We did hair removal using IPL on 108 people. We measured hair and skin type, number of light pulses, length of pulse, energy of the pulse, duration of the pulse, the filters used and the areas treated for hair removal. Then we asked the patients what they thought of the treatment. Each patient had had between 1 and 13 hair removal treatments in 2 to 6 treatment sessions. 67% had no problems at all. 16% had redness for more than a week, 6% had blisters, 8% had temporary skin discoloration, in one person the treated hair went white and one young girl had a loss of pigment. People who needed fewer treatments said they were more satisfied with the treatment than those who needed more than 7 treatments. 60% of people rated IPL hair removal as good to excellent and 65% said they would recommend IPL to a friend. You can reduce complications by adjusting the settings of the Intense Pulsed Light every treatment session depending on how the skin responded at the last session. Permanent hair removal cannot be guaranteed, nor can you predict how quickly the hair will be gone - nevertheless IPL is recommended for hair removal treatment.
Another treatment option / hair removal product is Eflornithine, but hair growth returns to pretreatment levels within two months of stopping treatment. How does laser hair removal feel?
